In order to relate my entire project to my materialisations from project one, i decided to use the same entire concept and idea of the struggles of youth within society as well as the use of the same mediums of black ink and watercolour. Therefore i searched for different ink styles which appealed to me and came across one that expressed a dark, scratchy and grungy effect that i wished to achieve.

After searching for illustrative posters i found myself drawn towards punk rock posters and song covers i found that many of them had a grungy and messy appearance, they were disorganised making the test quite hard to read as they compressed both images and texts together.They would use various different fonts which made the entire poster dynamic and bold standing out prominently creating an eerie and rough atmosphere much like the music itself. I looked prominently for black and white posters as they appealed to the particular style i wanted to achieve especially Sonic Youth's posters due to their cartoon, anime like style.

Through the various idea's i gained from the posters i then decided to create a record and make my own album and record cover art which resonated with the posters in terms of design however with a different layout. I was inspired by the black and white punk rock records due to the similar style of the posters as they conveyed a grungy and careless effect. The texts looked drawn on using a marker or pen, sticky tape attached to the record to keep it together, various different texts on one record which were disorganised. I was also drawn to the black and white comical effect and how they looked as though they had been used, scratched up and old. It truly resonated with the type of style i wanted to attempt for both my record and posters and felt that through music i would be able to express this strong message of the struggles of youth within a destructive society.

In some records, the artist who designed the record cover would incorporate some of their art within the record itself as a extra feature of the album, sometimes the artist themselves would place other random pictures or drawings inside the album itself which i decided i would also incorporate within the album.

Fan art is a form of artwork created by fans from a particular fandom whether its TV series, k pop, comics, video games, anime, movies, novels and many more derived from a series of characters or concept related to that work. Some Fan artists receive commission as they sell their own fanart through websites, social media and conventions where other fellow fans purchase their works in the form of merchandise through prints, t shirts, pillows, books, stationary, pins, key chains and many more. Each fan artist tends to have their own form and style using various mediums from both traditional and digital forms. Fanart is where I gained my inspiration for my drawing style as I draw fanart myself of inspirational figures that I personally admire.

Merchandise are goods to be bought and sold through promotion, many fans of particular shows, bands and more buy merchandise related to that particular fandom as a way of showing support to that fandom which can be both official and unofficial.  Merchandise can come in the form of T shirts, mugs, pins, art, hats and many other forms.
